How Much Does Newborn Photography Cost To You?
I’ve been capturing Newborns at home on the Gold Coast for over 10 years now! Typing that still doesn’t feel real, it’s gone so quick but also feel like I have been doing this my whole life.
Even if its the same family every couple of years, the sessions are always different. Simply because time isn’t slowing down & we seem to like to move around a lot too! We will never be able to replicate something we have photographed in the past & I wouldn’t want too, it’s the beauty of watching your family grow together. Those small, sometimes big, changes is what you will cherish being captured year after year.
So, how does having images from a newborn or family session increase in value over time?
I want you to think about something. What is the first thing people grab if their house is on fire? (after family & animals of course)..
Photos - whether physical or on a hard-drive/computer/phone etc. It’s also the one thing we worry about if our phone is broken or stolen - did we save our photos to the cloud?!
Family photographs become part of a generational legacy. As time goes by, they not only hold sentimental value for the immediate family members but also become a source of connection for future generations. These images provide insights into family history, traditions, and the shared experiences that define a family's identity. Because one day the only thing left will be photos & memories.
Not only that, but when are YOU in the images with your family? I’d like to bet not that often. So while you are preserving the memories for your family in the day to day, you are more than likely the one that is holding the camera/phone & not actually loving on your children & preserving how you are right now with them.
The value of photography increases over time for families because it helps capture precious moments, creates emotional connections, preserves generational legacies, documents growth and change, shares and preserves stories, and keeps memories alive. Investing in family photography allows families to create a visual archive that becomes more valuable as time goes on, enabling them to relive and share their unique story for generations to come.
Take the Damons’ as example. This is our 6th session together over the last decade & most of them are at their current home, which they have changed drastically in that time. But our sessions captured all those changes as their family grew too.
Not only that but as they continued to trust me to document those changes, I have all their galleries in one place that they can return too at anytime. I don’t believe we will ever stop & that makes me so honoured.
